National exercise to hold April next year
In its determination to comply with the time, the National Population Commission (NPC) would commence trial census in nine local councils in Imo State today, Wednesday.
The Federal Commissioner of the commission in Imo, Prof. Uba Nnabue, who disclosed this, yesterday, while fielding questions from journalists in an Owerri – based private radio station, Darling FM, maintained that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure hitch-free exercise.
According to Nnabue, the full exercise would hold in April 2023, to enable the incoming administration plan provision of infrastructure, among other things for the citizenry.
The commissioner recalled that an enumeration demarcation had been held more than 10 months ago, adding that appointed controllers would handle the exercise commencing today.
He disclosed that those qualified to enumerate are, at least, Ordinary National Diploma (OND) holders who are from the localities.”
His words: “Census is crucial for infrastructural facilities. Participation in census is essential for growth. We should do everything we can to participate effectively. Please, ensure you are counted to make it inclusive.
“216 million Nigerians should translate to 216 opportunities.”
He promised that the commission is strategically positioned to give Nigerians what they desire.
