Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau State have arrested a man allegedly found with a firearm within the premises of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended on Sunday at about 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by NSCDC operatives around the church compound.
Some communities in Bokkos were recently attacked by gunmen, leading to the death of several people.
It was further gathered that the suspect could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for the gun in his possession.
Spokesperson of the Plateau state Civil Defence Command, ASP NR Rimvyok, confirmed the arrest of the man in a phone conversation with journalists in Jos saying that investigation is ongoing.
