The Oyo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have arrested two suspected pedophiles, Tunde Kareem, male, aged 33, who hails from Ede, Osun State and lives in Olodo, Ibadan and Amos Michael, male, aged 46, who hails from Ebonyi State but lives at Alakia, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Oyindamola Okuneye, said the suspects were arrested following due diligence, credible and actionable intelligence taken by the Command’s personnel.

Okuneye said the suspects pleaded guilty to the offence committed. The command said the suspects will be charged to court immediately after the completion of investigation.

According to her, Kareem defiled his 11-year-old daughter and admitted to have had carnal knowledge of her once, before his arrest on January 17, 2023.

She said the other suspect, Amos defiled a minor (girl) aged (10) on January 15, 2023 by taking her to a lonely road in his bike around the vicinity and using his finger to penetrate her till she was defiled.

Okuneye added that Amos used to visit the girl’s mother’s shop to drink locally made herbs and used the opportunity to get closer to the girl.

The Oyo State Commandant of the Corps, (CC) Adaralewa Michael, said the corps will maintain its stance on zero tolerance for misuse and abuse of children and will continue to protect the girl child in the state.
