Ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,920 personnel across the state to secure lives and properties and maintain security before, during, and after the celebrations.
The State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Sulaimon Folorunso, in Abeokuta, the state capital
Ekundayo said that the deployment became imperative following the Federal Government’s declaration of public holidays for the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, to ensure peaceful, hitch-free, and secure celebrations across Ogun State.
She stated that the personnel were drawn from various departments, units, tactical squads, divisions, and area commands of the Corps to strengthen security presence and maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
The Commandant further directed that the operation should not only focus on the protection of residents and visitors but also ensure the security of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure belonging to the Federal, State, and Local Governments across the state.
She explained that the proactive deployment would help prevent vandalism, economic sabotage, and other criminal activities often associated with festive periods.
Ekundayo charged all deployed personnel to exhibit the highest level of discipline, professionalism, civility, and operational alertness in the discharge of their duties, while also maintaining cordial relationships with members of the public.
She congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging residents of the state to continue to uphold the virtues of peace, tolerance, unity, sacrifice, and mutual understanding, which are core teachings of the Holy Qur’an.
She, however, appealed to members of the public to support security agencies by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest NSCDC formation or other security agencies for immediate response.
