The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has ordered the deployment of personnel nationwide to protect the public and ensure peaceful Sallah celebration.

In a communique by the Corps national spokesman, Babawale Afolabi, the CG said concerns regarding recent explosions and attacks on pipeline installations are matters taken seriously by his agency.

Audi condemned vandalism and destruction of critical national assets, emphasizing their detrimental impact on the nation’s economy pointing that such acts would not be tolerated.

Commending recent joint operations by the Armed Forces, Department of State Services (DSS), Police, and NSCDC in Rivers State, Audi said the collaboration had successfully foiled an attempt by vandals targeting oil installations in Allu-Rumuekpe, Emuoha Local Government Area.

He underscored that effective cooperation among security agencies is vital in combating crime.

Calling for public support in providing credible information and actionable intelligence to prevent attacks on critical infrastructure, he assured that government is ready to fulfill its mandate.

He emphasized the necessity for all personnel across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), to remain vigilant, particularly during festive periods when criminal activities may rise.

He highlighted that the deployment spans all formations and tactical units to ensure security before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.

“The NSCDC will coordinate efforts to protect oil pipelines, power and telecommunications installations, railways, and mining sites”, he said.

In preparation for the celebrations, operatives from various specialized units of the Corps have been placed on high alert to respond quickly to any security threats.

Audi assured citizens that the Eid-al-Fitr celebration would proceed without incident and wishes Nigerian a happy celebration.

The NSCDC High Command has also instructed state Commandants in coastal regions to adhere to standard operating procedures and effectively utilize the equipment at their disposal to maintain security during the Sallah celebrations.
