NSCDC shuts down adulterated lubricants company, arrests one
Special Intelligence Squad of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has shut down an illegal and unregistered manufacturing company that specializes in the massive production of fake and automated transmission fluid, (ATF) and other lubricants at Ponponla village, Ido Local Government Area, (LGA), of Oyo State.
A communique by the Corps Public Relations Officer, (PRO), Babawale Afolabi, indicates that the unregistered makeshift company located at a very remote area, packages adulterated auto lubricants and sells same as established brand lubricants to unsuspecting members of the public.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the agency storm the company where one suspect, Adegoke Sunday, 41, was arrested while efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices who are now at large.
“On Wednesday 06/09/2023, at about 1535hours, the CG’s special intelligence squad acting on credible tip off, stormed a location at Ponpola village, Gbekuba area, Iddo local government, Oyo State where it discovered an illegal and adulterated auto lubricants manufacturing company.
“The location is very remote and deceptive because the so called company was located inside a residential house and indulges in the production of engine oil and other lubricants which do not follow mandatory industrial standard,” the statement contains.
Item confiscated at the company include over 2, 500, (one litre), container of adulterated ATF oil, metal drums used for storage, adulterated grease oil, large quantities of chemicals used in the production of the adulterated oil and five industrial machines among others.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC boss, Dr. Audi, has ordered the immediate closure of the illegal company while the suspect, Sunday Adegoke who claimed to be the manager of the company has been taken into custody for further investigation. Samples of all the recovered exhibits mentioned above have also been taken for further analysis.
