State chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa chapter, Comrade Salihu Alkali, has raised the alarm over imminent collapse of the chapter’s conference building, along Makurdi Road, Lafia.

Alkali made this known at the monthly congress of the chapter, yesterday, in Lafia, the state capital.

He said the roof is in its last stage of collapsing, and could fall in any moment.

According to him, “I have to cry out to well meaning Nigerian to help us before we become the next victims of building collapse.

“Governor Abdullahi Sule promised to fix the roof when he paid us a courtesy visit, last year. But since then, all efforts to remind him have fallen on deaf ears.”

“We will not use this building again until the roof is fixed. I do not want my members to be victims of building collapse in the state. We will announce the venue of our next meeting.”

He called on members to put the interest of the country first in their reportage as the general elections approach. He also appealed to the government to ensure protection of journalists during the polls.
