The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has charged appointees of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of government on the need to ensure good governance in the country through transparency and accountability.

Its National President, Comrade Solomon Adodo, in his New Year’s message, said his outfit would keep consistent vigils over activities of the MDAs to the extent that anyone identified to be working against ongoing effort to reposition the country would be exposed and dealt with according to the law.

Adodo said some government appointees have relapsed into their comfort zones without doing the needful in terms of performing according to their mandates as spelt out for their organisations to facilitate the attainment of President Muhammadu Buhari Next Level Agenda. He urged such appointees to remain on their toes in ensuring that good governance percolates to the grassroots level in terms of addressing the felt needs of the people.

However, while calling for concerted efforts to tackle the effects of climate change in the country, he called on Nigerian Youths not to despair, adding, “Let us embrace peace, tolerance and hard work as virtues that will take our nation to safer shores.

“Let us all play our roles in reining in crimes, terrorism, corruption and all forms of vices that have militated against national development.

“If we stand together in determination, we will survive and succeed, but if we despair and fight, we will be destroyed. Nigeria is a great nation and that greatness is within each of us,” he said.On climate change, Adodo who planted a tree at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, charged state governments to provide land for the afforestation project in the country.
