The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released call-up letters for 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II prospective corps members.
The call-up numbers and deployment details were uploaded to the NYSC portal yesterday. The development follows the recent publication of the timetable for the upcoming orientation exercise.
Confirmations from prospective corps members also indicated that the portal became active in the early hours, though many users experienced difficulty accessing it due to heavy traffic. The release came days after NYSC announced the timetable for the orientation exercise.
According to a statement signed by its spokesperson, Caroline Embu, the scheme said that the orientation course will begin on April 22.
“The orientation course will commence with reception and registration of prospective corps members on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, and end at midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026,” the statement read.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for April 24, while the orientation exercise will run until May 12. The scheme also advised prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling, warning against night journeys.
“Prospective Corps Members are advised to break their journeys once it’s 6:00 p.m… and continue the following morning,” it stated. The development marks the final phase of mobilisation as thousands of graduates prepare to begin the mandatory national service.
Meanwhile, NYSC has announced that prospective corps members deployed to Enugu and Osun states are to commence their orientation exercise on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, and end on Monday, May 18, 2026, one week after their counterparts sent to 34 other states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) began their orientation exercise.
It was gathered that this slight adjustment is due to the ongoing extensive renovation of the camps by the state governments, which has necessitated the change in date.
In a statement, the NYSC Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, said the orientation exercise for all other states and the FCT is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, April 22, and end on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
She urged affected prospective corps members to note the differing dates and comply accordingly.
