Obadan emerges president of Rotary Club of Surulere South

Obadan took over the leadership of the club from the outgoing president, Rotarian Raliat Okoya, who completed her one-year ter, during the installation ceremony held at the weekend in Lagos,

Obadan in his acceptance speech said it was a moment of developing requisite strategies to turn situations around by taking up enormous task of solving people’s challenges and problems.He said giving to humanity is an act that is not predicted on one’s past, present or future conditions, but a determination to be a gift to others.

Speaking on his vision for the year, the newly installed President said some of the projects to be executed in the current rotary year would include rehabilitation of Iponri primary health centre, provision of medical tools, electrical appliances, television, refrigerator, fan, generating set, donation of two units of incubators to Iponri maternity centre and provision of mosquito nets.

Others include, refurbishing of two boreholes and provision, provision of writing materials to secondary schools in Surulere as well as support for disease prevention and treatment by screening for high blood pressure, Hepatitis, diabetes, blood sugar among others.

While calling on financial support of N5 million to implement the project, he said, “Let us be driven by an inclination to be part of a machinery committed to giving to our community, especially the less privilege. Therefore, the projects listed on this programme can only be executed by the contribution, support and donations of Rotarians”.

Commending the new president, the District Governor for Rotary International, District 9110, Rotn Kola Shodipo said Rotarians are known for selfless service to humanity, adding that he is optimistic Obadan would serve the people well.The district governor, however, advised the club to continue doing good to various people out there that need help and succour in whatever area of life.adding that one of the key objectives for Rotary International is service to humanity, focus on three core areas which are health, education and empowerment.

The Chairman, Installation Planning Committee, Rotn Moses Olarewaju said Obadan is regarded as a passionate lover of the less privilege, adding that ” in his hands shall the waves of inspiration blow out to transform lives of many beyond Surulere South community.”
