The governorship candidate of the All progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has alleged that an unnamed opposition party is plotting to attack his convoy.

Obaseki said he had intelligence reports that his convoy was to be attacked yesterday in an undisclosed location.

He, however, declined to mention the location of the planned attack or the party involved.

The candidate, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, added that he was hopeful that he would win the election by at least 75 per cent.

He said: “From the feelers we are getting from across the state, the APC would win by 75 per cent. That is what the last exit poll that we monitored indicated.

“For instance, in Edo south, things have improved quite significantly from the last poll that we received, just as Edo Central has also been very interesting. The amount of defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has essentially crumbled the opposition party in the centre. We are beginning to see them jittery even in their strongholds.”

He explained that whatever the opposition party planned against the APC is often leaked from their camp. “We thank God because this election is His project and once the heavens are for you, no body can be against you,” he said.

‎Obaseki added that he believed in the integrity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which he said, had been the bastion of democracy in last 17 years.
