Obaseki commends Edo varsity over programmes accreditation

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has commended the management of Edo University, Iyamho for its brilliant performance in the October/November last year academic programme accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other professional bodies.

The governor congratulated the Council, vice chancellor, management, staff and students of the institution for recording such feat within a few years of its establishment, including the accreditation of the Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), Nursing Science and the Medical Laboratory Science Programmes by National Universities Commission (NUC) and MBBS Pre-Clinical accreditation by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

“The accreditation performance of the university and outcomes are in consonance with the policy direction of this administration on the development of education in the State,” he stated.

Eulogising the exemplary leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, the governor added: “While it is remarkable that you are recording landmark achievements, it is of utmost importance to sustain the courage, passion, dedication and vision to further take the institution to greater height.”

He further noted that the minimum percentage score for the programmes visited by the NUC since inception of the institution is 82.5 per cent.

Aluyor attributed the institution’s performance during the accreditation exercise to teamwork and support of the governor’s administration, the university Council, staffs, parents, guardian, students of the school and the public, commending them for believing in the vision and mission of the university.
