Official cautions staff against tampering with relief materials
Against the backdrop of reports that relief materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are diverted by carriers, staff of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons have been cautioned against such practices, even as projects carried out by the commission from 2015 till date are to be probed.
The Federal Commissioner Sadiya Umar Farouq gave this caution yesterday in Abuja while addressing the staff during a familiarization parlay, saying a good welfare package within the limits of available resources can be guaranteed.
She said in line with the change mantra of the present administration, corrupt tendencies by any officer would not be tolerated, saying all hands must be on deck to achieve the mandate of the Commission.
While encouraging the staff to imbibe the spirit of dedication to duty and shun all forms of negative tendencies that can constitute a clog in the wheel of the Commission’s progress, she announced plans to engage a Special Technical Audit Committee to conduct technical Auditing of both capital and recurrent Projects executed and on-going in the Commission between 2015-2016.
