Ogah accuses PDP of rigging, Ikpeazu optimistic of victory

Despite early arrival of electoral officers and materials to polling units in most parts of Abia State, there was still voter apathy across the state.

There was, however, late arrival of materials at Ututu in Arochukwu Local Government Area, which forced voters to return home in annoyance.

This scenario, to some extent, was attributed to fears induced by military presence ahead of the poll and anxiety over possible violence.

A voter, Onu Emeba told The Guardian that “Aba voters were afraid to come out because they were told to vote for a particular party’s candidates.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate’s spokesman, Mr. Great Imo said his principal was optimistic of victory, alleging however, that PDP agents became violent, carted ballot materials, snatched ballot boxes and engaged in illegal thump-printing in Isiala Ngwa North and South LGAs.

PDP Chieftain in the state, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba lauded the process, saying it was a far departure from that of Presidential and National Assembly Polls. “I voted about 11a.m, card reader worked, materials and presiding officers arrived on time and adequate arrangements were made to protect votes.
