Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has described the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state as a moment of deep reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to sustained development.

In a statewide broadcast yesterday, Abiodun said the milestone underscored five decades of purposeful existence, built on the vision, sacrifices, and collective determination of the people of the Gateway State.

He recalled that Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976, out of the old Western Region, noting that the decision gave birth to a state founded on clarity of purpose and a strong sense of destiny.

Meanwhile, to commemorate the anniversary, the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) has organised a four-day training programme, themed “Building Digital Confidence: Creativity and Cyber Awareness.”

According to it, the ongoing training at Ogun TechHub aimed at exposing citizens to the importance of digital creativity and security towards boosting confidence in businesses and innovations.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Information Communication Technology (ICT), Dayo Abiodun, explained that cyber awareness and creativity were crucial elements to unlocking the state’s digital potentials and highlighting the latest cyber-attacks that come with them, hence the need to equip citizens with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely.

Also speaking, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (BIT), Olatundun Adekunte, urged participants to think outside the box and leverage digital tools to solve real-world problems, saying that the programme would educate them on digital security, online safety and creativity, giving them a boost in business survival.
