Ogun Police sustain onslaught against cultism, nab four suspects

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested four members of the dreaded Aiye cult group suspected of killing one Segun Onifade on April 20, 2022.

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested four members of the dreaded Aiye cult group suspected of killing one Segun Onifade on April 20, 2022.
    
Their arrest was in continuation of the command’s onslaught against cultism and other vices.
 

 
The suspects, who have been on the command’s wanted list, were arrested following information received by policemen at Ilaro Divisional headquarters that the suspects were holding a nocturnal meeting at a hideout behind Eleja Primary School, Igbo-ewe area of Ilaro.
    
Upon receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer, Ilaro division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Olayemi Jacob, mobilised his men and moved to the scene where four of the suspects were arrested.
   
They are Samson Jacob, a.k.a Cybog; Iyanu Kazeem Akande a.k.a omo iyami; Adebayo Adeoluwa a.k.a Dudu and Yusuf Adelakun.
   
Recovered from them are two cut-to-size local-made pistols, four live cartridges, one battle axe, five different handsets, assorted charms, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and one unregistered red Bajaj motorcycle.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the anti-cultists unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation.
  
He also directed that the war against cultism and other violent crime must be sustained to make the state peaceful.
