Ogun tasks transition chairmen on relief items distribution

Ogun State Government has called for fair distribution of relief items provided by government across the state 20 councils.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape who made the appeal, yesterday, in Abeokuta, said the packaged bags of goodies were meant for an average of four people per household across the state.
He said: “Each packaged bag contains consumable items. We are also giving hand sanitisers to them while they stay at home to ensure their safety and healthy living.”


He also called on the people to adhere strictly to the order of government and desist from sharp practices that may lead to harassment by the taskforce available in towns to enforce the order of stay-at-home.
Afuape noted that the lockdown would assist in curbing the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Also, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Lawal Adamu and the All Nigerian Youth Project 2023, at the weekend, distributed relief items to the less privileged in the state, to cushion the effect of the 24-hour curfew imposed by the government to check the pandemic.

Adamu rolled out a N10 million stimulus welfare package for the residents, mostly the Talakawas in seven councils and under the LA Cares Foundation distributed several bags of rice and other food items to people in 81 Wards of Chikun, Kajuru, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Igabi, Giwa and Birnin Gwari.

Besides, National Chairman, All Nigerian Youth Project 2023, Dr. Suleman Shu’aibu Shinkafi said the group has begun the distribution of food items to the poor in Kaduna State.

He said they have started sharing the bags of food items to residents in Badarawa, Unguwan Dosa, Unguwan sarki communities, and they will continue to distribute free bags of rice to other communities like Kawo, Hayin Banki, Unguwar shanu and Abakwa. He added that the group has already bought 815 bags of food items, which would be shared to some neighbouring states.
