Ogun to overhaul health sector
Worried by the state of healthcare in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has pledged to revamp the sector at all levels.
Abiodun, who disclosed this during the second round of Polio Outbreak Response Campaign, at the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat, Itooro, Ijebu Ode, acknowledged the critical roles of Child’s Health in the growth and economic development of any given society.
Represented by his wife, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the governor said there will be a minimum of one flagship Primary Health Centre per ward across the state, in his first 100 days in office.
He explained that immunisation has greatly reduced mortality rate among children between the age zero to five, which he attributed to the improved level of education and awareness in the society.
In his remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adesanya Ayinde described immunisation a potent and cost effective health intervention for the reduction of death among children under the age of five.
