Ohanaeze sets up electoral committee for ‘new era of leadership’

The apex igbo cultural group Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Wednesday set up an 11-man electoral Committee headed by Prince Dr. Richard Ozobu and Prof. Chibuikeya Achoakawa as secretary to oversee the election of new executives by January 2025.

The decision according to Ohanaeze follows an influential meeting convened by the Ohanaeze Elders Council and Imeobi Members in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

The group maintained that the collective commitment was reinforced by their decisions toward upholding and enriching the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Constitution adding that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is embarking on a new era of leadership unity, and cultural integrity.

In a statement by the Secretary General of Chidi Ibeh faction of Ohanaeze, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze noted that this pivotal initiative is geared towards ensuring a seamless transition of leadership from Imo State to Rivers State by January 2025.

While expressing confident on the caliber of personalities that made up of the electoral committee, he added that we are privileged to have Prince Dr. Richard Ozobu at the helm of this committee noting that he will brings his exemplary array of credentials to his leadership role, which includes USA-trained Chartered Accountant, former Deputy Board Chairman of the defunct Cooperative and Commerce Bank (CCB), and former Board Member of the University of Maiduguri.

He extended the group heartfelt appreciation to the indefatigable spirit of the Igbo people, whose unity and resolve in the face of challenges have been crucial in maintaining the integrity of our constitution.

According to him, this collective determination has fostered a collaborative framework among stakeholders, thereby designating Rivers State as the birthplace for the next President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
