Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday urged management of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, to flush out touts operating at the facility and bring sanity to the airport and its environs.

He also urged the authorities to desist from collection of illegal taxation in order to reduce tax burden on travellers.

Okorocha stated this at the weekend when the management of the airport, led by the new Airport Manager, Mrs. Rejoice Ndudinachi, visited him at Government House, Owerri.

The governor, who also approved the release of tractors for the cutting of over grown grasses at the airport, thanked God for His intervention by using fire fighters to quench the inferno within a short time at the facility’s terminal building section.

Interventions effort by his administration, Okorocha said, led to increased flight operations, which boosted the socio-economic activities of the state.

He urged the in-coming administration in the state to build and consolidate on the efforts of the out-going administration.
