Okorocha to handover peacefully, says Imo SG
Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Mark Uchendu has said the state government, led by Governor Rochas Anayo Okorocha has commenced process of handing over to incoming government.
The Imo SGI at a press briefing in Owerri, yesterday, assured that the exercise would be done peacefully and with great expectation that the governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha will further consolidate on Okorocha’s achievements.
He debunked allegations leveled against the state government by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The SGI averred that Imo government, through his office, has not indulged in any shoddy deal or administrative infraction.
Uchendu said the Okorocha-led administration would not be distracted by PDP claims, which he said were unfounded and unfortunate.
PDP had, in the past few days, accused the state government of illegal withdrawal of over N17bn from state accounts, auctioning of 71 government vehicles to Okorocha’s family members and cronies and diversion of over 300 transformers, among others.
He explained that the state receives around N3.5bn monthly allocation and could not have saved the over N17bn.
On the auctioning of vehicles, the Imo Scribe presented memos to justify that the auctioning was properly done and completed early 2019 and not in March or last week, as PDP claimed.
He advised Imo PDP to focus on governance and how to move the state forward with healthy policies and programmes, when it eventually assumes power.
