CEO of Buzz Media Africa/CEO Dad Anthony Homes and Properties Limited, Olabode Fayemiro, wishes to celebrate the Federal Government College, Odogbolu, as it marks fifty years of producing students who parade academic excellence and good conduct in the society.

The school, established in January 1973, as one of the unity schools by the federal government has produced distinguished citizens who have contributed to the socioeconomic growth of the country through their respective fields of endeavour. Some of them include Ufuoma McDermott; foremost film-maker, actor and former model, Blessing Nwagba; leading entrepreneur and politician, Bayo Onanuga; Director-General, News Agency of Nigeria, Adewale Tinubu; CEO, Oando, and Patrick Chuka; accomplished Artist and Entrepreneur.

Over the decades, the school, through its vast academic and extracurricular activities, has lived up to its mission of imparting in the individual child, through effective teaching in a conducive learning environment, the right attitude and skills, needed to achieve academic excellence and good character for self-reliance in a competitive society.

Recounting his days as a student at the prestigious school, Olabode noted that the boogie nights, otherwise known as the social nights, were easily his favourite moments. These gave students the opportunity to socialize, engage in healthy competitions and build lasting memories together. On how the school impacted him as a youngster, he says, “Looking back now, I am thankful FEGO helped to groom me into a smarter person, learning social and emotional intelligence very early. I got to learn how to relate meaningfully with people, regardless of age, gender, background or class.”

As part of activities to mark the golden jubilee, there will be visits to a charity home, orphanages, an inter-house sports competition, an interschool debate/quiz competition, and a novelty match between the school team and the alumni team. Others include the commissioning of some projects donated to the school by the alumni body, the anniversary parade and the presentation of awards.
