About 500 farmers from Bauchi State are to be trained on modern, sustainable agronomic practices that would lead to the production of higher yield, and better quality sesame in their communities, as part of measures initiated by Olam Nigeria Limited, to enhance food security in the country.

These benefiting farmers from Bauchi are among the 2, 000 sesame farmers drawn from four northern states, including Nassarawa, Jigawa and Benue, earmarked to be integrated in the company’s sesame seed out-grower scheme initiative.

Regional manager of the agro allied company, Mr. Dip Sinha, who unveiled the development, Friday, during the distribution of assorted types of fertiliser, pesticides for crop protection and other farming inputs to select sesame farmers in Ganjuwa Local Council Area of the state, noted that the company remains committed to facilitating agriculture in the northern part of the country.
