The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on Christians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ as they celebrate Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, at the Olubadan Palace, the monarch congratulated Christians worldwide on the Easter celebrations.
Ladoja urged adherents of the Christian faith to reflect the teachings of Christ in their daily lives, stressing the need for sincerity in worship and conduct.

“Be like Christ in your words and deeds,” the monarch said, referencing the example of the disciples of Jesus Christ in Antioch.
He cautioned against what he described as commercial and ceremonial worship, urging Christians to embrace a more practical and spiritual approach to their faith.

The Olubadan also called on people across the world to draw lessons from the Easter season, which he said symbolises sacrifice, suffering, resurrection and the hope of eternal life.
He further emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and unity among citizens, noting that Jesus Christ, regarded as the Prince of Peace, exemplified these virtues.

According to him, the Easter period should not be seen solely as a time for merriment, but as an opportunity for reflection on the true essence of the celebration.
He explained that Good Friday represents the suffering, trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, while Easter Sunday marks His resurrection, and Easter Monday signifies His appearance after resurrection and ascension.

The monarch urged Nigerians and the global community to imbibe the spirit of love, peace and mutual understanding as exemplified by Christ.
The statement was signed by Olugbemiga on behalf of the Olubadan Palace.
