The Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State has been thrown into chaos after one person was left dead and several others injured after farmers in the district and herders clashed over farmland trespass.
Security sources said the clash occurred after an unidentified Fulani herder took his cattle to a farmland, and his animals and crops were destroyed as a result.
Babayo Maina, the owner of the farm, was reportedly shot in the head with an arrow and sustained injuries.
The incident soon escalated to violence between farmers and herders in the LGA.
In the ensuing fight, one Usman Mohammed, a 35-year-old resident of Chikuriwa village, was shot with an arrow and later confirmed dead at the General Hospital in Nangere.
Security personnel quickly intervened, sending detectives to the scene and restoring calm.
Authorities recovered two cows and twenty-nine goats and rams allegedly seized by the farmers from the herders.
Leaders from both communities have been summoned for dialogue as investigations continue to prevent further escalation.
