Scene of the accident

According to eyewitnesses, the Sienna was coming from the Ondo axis, while the  Hummer bus was going to Ore.

The deceased was said to have died instantly before help came from nearby sympathisers who came to rescue victims from the wreck.

The State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Command, Mr. Ezekiel SonAllah,  who confirmed the incident, said nine people were injured and one died in the crash.

SonAllah explained that the accident involved 30 people, including 20 male adults, nine female adults and one female child, adding that those injured sustained head injuries, lacerations and fractures.

He said: “Six male adults, three female adults were injured and one male adult died at the hospital after personnel of FRSC rescued the victims.

“The victims were taken to the General Hospital and some were taken to Federal Medical Centre Annex, Akure, for treatment, while the only corpse was deposited at the morgue.”

The FRSC Commander, who attributed the cause of the accident to speeding violation and loss of control, urged motorists to install speed limit devices in their vehicles and maintain speed limits.

“We will continue to appeal to our drivers to always maintain speed limit when they are on wheel and installation of speed limit device is a must for them.

“Moreover, this is the rainy season, motorists must have functional wipers and drive with care because the person that died is a driver who left Ore to Akure this morning,” he said.
