The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Tuesday urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms in order to drive the development of the nation.

He noted that various economic reforms and policies being implemented by the Federal Government were targeted at reducing poverty and making life more comfortable for the citizenry.

Oba Ogunwusi, who spoke during the empowerment and industrialisation programme organised by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, contended that the focus of Tinubu’s administration was to tackle poverty ravaging the masses.

He stated, “The intention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to end poverty in the country will soon be materialized with the various programmes and policies put in place by the Federal Government to alleviate poverty.”

“But the support of Nigerians for his (Tinubu) economic reforms is very crucial for its success and impacts by fulfilling our obligations as responsible citizens through the payment of taxes and cooperation to ensure peace and tranquility for such reforms to yield expected good results, “Oba Ogunwusi remarked.

While assuring that the policies and programmes initiated by the current administration were aimed at boosting the nation’s economy, the monarch expressed optimism positive impacts of the reforms introduced by the Federal Government would soon be felt by Nigerians.

He further maintained that Tinubu was determined to improve the nation’s micro economy by encouraging Small and Medium Scale Business owners through various policies and programmes capable of creating enabling atmosphere for entrepreneurs.

Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Mr Uzoma Nwagba disclosed that over 300,000 people have benefited from the various empowerment programmes of the agency within its two years of establishment.

He disclosed that arrangements were underway to empower more Nigerians through soft and revolving loans and provision of working tools among other initiatives.

At the ceremony, tricycles were presented to individuals who benefited from the empowerment programme of the agency in Osun State.
