Eminent Nigerians, including the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, yesterday, honoured the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, on his 60th birthday celebration and fifth coronation anniversary in Sagamu.

Osinbajo, in his congratulatory message on the double celebration of the Akarigbo, prayed for God’s continuous grace and strength to enable him undertake more tasks.

“May we also take the opportunity to congratulate Your Royal Majesty once again on the conferment of the National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on you by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR). We are proud of your many accomplishments in these few years and thank our Lord God for His grace through which your reign remains one of peace and prosperity for the people of Remoland since your ascension to the throne of your fathers,” he said.

Abiodun, also a Remo indigene, commended Remoland for the organised and structured initiative towards the growth and development of the community.

He said the decision to build airport was to ensure that the state benefits from being the industrial hub of the country, noting that the proposed airport in Remo will be bigger than the Muritala International Airport and other airports in West Africa.

The governor said the milestone was significant not only because of the number, but because of Akarigbo’s numerous impacts over the decades on his family, community and nation at large.

“It is an indisputable fact that in the last five years of your reign as Akarigbo of Remoland, you have brought vibrancy, vigour, commitment and deep sense of honour to bear with resultant unprecedented development and visible transformation in Remoland,” he said.

Oba Ogunwusi, who said Remo indigenes had their root at Ile-Ife with the landscape known as Remoland today, prayed for the monarch to experience more fruitful years on the throne.

Former governor of the state and Arole of Remoland, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, in his goodwill message, said the monarch’s reign had brought unprecedented development to Remoland with the creation of Remo Growth Development Foundation (RemoGDF).

Akarigbo further said that in the next 10 years, Remo would be seen as the industrial capital of Ogun State and Nigeria where there would be peace, harmony and love among everyone.
