Osoba berates security agents for sparing attackers of Buhari Ogun rally

Chief Olusegun Osoba, Former governor of Ogun State

Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has expressed surprise over the failure of security operatives to arrest those who disrupted President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign trail in Abeokuta recently.

In a chat with reporters in Abuja shortly after attending the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting, he said the development did not speak well of the security agencies.

The APC chieftain said he had already tendered apologies to Buhari over the embarrassing conduct of those who poured invectives and hurled objects at members of the campaign trail, which include the vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; and national leader, Bola Tinubu.

He refused to join issues with Governor Ibikunle Amosun over the unfortunate incidence.

Said he: “Ogun is the state of the vice president, and I told the president today, while apologising to him, that even up to today not a single person has been arrested. I see that as a failure on side of some elements of the security agencies. I made that clear.

“Actually, the bulk of the APC in the state is one family. The structure has gone out, despite what happened, that everybody should vote APC at all levels. When the result is out, you will know that it reflects the mood of the state.

“We respect the vice president; he is from a very notable political family. He married from the Awolowo family. He is preaching the philosophy of the Awolowo family, supporting the downtrodden. Awolowo’s philosophy is welfarism and egalitarianism.”
