The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has challenged the Ademola Adeleke administration to account for the impact of the huge financial resources that have accrued to the state since it assumed office.

Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, raised the question during the Arise TV Town Hall Meeting in Osun State, where he presented his plans for the state and responded to questions on governance, public finance, development and the 2026 governorship election.

The APC candidate disputed the narrative that the Adeleke administration inherited an empty treasury from the immediate past administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, insisting that Oyetola left about ₦15 billion for the incoming government.

He urged Osun voters to look beyond political claims and assess what has been achieved with the resources available to the present administration.

Oyebamiji said the financial position of Osun had changed significantly in recent years, particularly following increased federal allocations arising from economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He argued, however, that the increase in revenue had not translated into commensurate development across the state.

According to him, the contrast in revenue received by successive administrations should prompt voters to demand greater accountability from the government.

“In 12 years of APC, Aregbesola and Oyetola, Osun got only N450 billion. In three and a half years of Adeleke, they have collected N650 billion. How does N650 billion match what we see in Osun today?” he asked.

Oyebamiji further alleged that 97 per cent of resources in Osun go to only two local governments, describing the situation as an aberration that requires urgent attention.

“The resources available to the present administration in Osun have never been available to any governor of this state in this manner. But when you look around Osun today, there is nothing that commensurates with the level of resources available to the government,” he said.

The APC candidate also praised President Tinubu for what he described as bold decisions to remove fuel subsidy and implement economic reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy.

He acknowledged that the reforms created significant challenges for citizens in their early stages but maintained that they had also increased the resources available to the three tiers of government.

Oyebamiji said the increased allocations should be reflected in better infrastructure, improved social services, stronger economic opportunities and enhanced welfare for residents.

He also challenged the Adeleke administration’s narrative concerning inherited liabilities, saying the people of Osun deserved clarity on the actual financial position of the state when the present government assumed office.

According to him, the claim that the previous administration left the state without resources should not be used to explain away shortcomings in governance.

Oyebamiji pledged that an APC government under his leadership would deploy public resources transparently and equitably, with emphasis on accountability and prudent financial management.

He said his administration would prioritise economic expansion and create an environment where young people could find opportunities, businesses could thrive and workers would receive greater support.

The APC candidate also promised to pursue balanced development across Osun’s local government areas, arguing that public resources must benefit communities fairly rather than being concentrated in a few areas.

He said the 2026 election offered voters an opportunity to assess not only political promises but also how effectively competing administrations had managed public resources.

Oyebamiji urged Osun residents to demand measurable results from whoever occupies the Government House, insisting that increased revenue must ultimately translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.

The town hall provided the APC candidate an opportunity to outline his agenda and directly engage questions about the state’s finances, development challenges and the choices before voters ahead of the 2026 governorship poll.
