Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reversed all appointments Adegboyega Oyetola, his predecessor, made from July 7, 2022, till he left office.

Speaking after taking his oath of office at the Osogbo City Stadium, Adeleke said he was aware of the expectations of Osun residents, promising not to disappoint them.

He also promised to transform education, security, healthcare, infrastructure, local government administration, judiciary, public service, among other sectors.

He said he would raise a committee to review all appointments and make recommendations.

Oyetola appointed 30 permanent secretaries hours to the end of his tenure on Friday.

He approved the appointment of Permanent Secretaries to fill the existing vacancies in the State Civil Service.

The Head of Service, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade, in a memo announced the appointment of the new Permanent Secretary on behalf of the state government.

The top government officials have occupied the positions of Coordinating Directors of their various ministries awaiting their appointment into the position of PS.

But Adeleke as governor-elect threatened to sack them when he takes over as governor.

“We want to put on records that those who accept the appointments should be ready to leave the service whether or not their service tenure has reached statutory age,” Adeleke said in a statement by his media aide Olawale Rasheed. “The occupants will be treated as political appointees who will automatically follow the outgoing Governor out of public service from November 28.”

Adeleke has also reversed the Osun appellation from “The State of the Virtues” to “The State of the Living Spring”.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, PDP Presidential Candidate; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Atiku’s running mate; Senator Iyorchia Ayu, PDP National Chairman; former Senate President Bukola Saraki, were among the dignitaries in attendance at Adeleke’s swearing in as Osun State governor.
