Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali, has described Ota Area Command as one of the most peaceful commands in the state, noting that the area, which was hitherto known for notorious crimes in the state, is now a peaceful area with the efforts of the police in fighting crime.

The Police Commissioner, who was on a visit to the Area Commander, also commended him for putting his men on their toes in fighting crime in the area. He pledged his support for the command to sustain the present state of security in the area.

In his address, the Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, stated that the command has re-strategised to contend sufficiently with criminals from Lagos State, “who think they can use Ota as a hideout and operational base.”

However, he pointed out that the strength of his men is obviously inadequate to cope with the security challenges of the area, adding that the working strength is a total of 1,010 officers and men to contend with prevalent crime such as cultism, kidnapping, robberies, land and chieftaincy matters, among others.

“We are also sensitising the people on the need to be security -conscious by applying simple basic security tips. To further enhance the cordial relationship between the members of the public and the divisions in the command, a football competition was organized by a private organization, AYSON Concept, with Itele, Ado-Odo and Onipanu Divisions coming first, second and third respectfully.”
