The Ife Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) has invited no fewer than 200 scholars from Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world to participate in its fourth summer programme, titled, the Ife Summer Institute, which would take place virtually via Zoom.

The Institute, in a statement yesterday, said that the programme would open today, July 20, 2020, and end August 1, 2020, with the theme: “Exploring New Frontiers: Knowledge Creation, Collaboration and Dissemination.”

The convener of the two-week virtual programme, Jacob Olupona, from Harvard University in Massachusetts, United States (U.S.), said that the objectives of the Summer Institute were meant to facilitate and foster innovative research of young scholars in the academy, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, and to expose young scholars to relevant theoretical and methodological tools in their respective disciplines.

“This year’s session would be anchored by an impressive number of senior scholars from Nigeria and abroad engaging a wide range of themes and issues that are designed to deepen the understanding of research and teaching mission in the academy,” he said.

He further noted that during the session, there would be time for scholars and mentors, whose mentoring sessions had proved to be very popular, to focus on a wide range of subjects, such as Studying Africa, Knowledge Production in the Digital Age, Tackling the Doctoral Thesis Challenge, Academic Networking, Academic Publishing, Research Data Processing and Presentation Skills.
