Niger State government, in collaboration with National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), Society for Family Health (SFH) and other partners, has concluded plans to flag off the 2022 mass distribution of insecticide treated nets to 3,766,892 households in the state.

The Director/Campaign Manager, NMEP, John Ocholi, who gave the hint at a media orientation in Minna, stated that the nets would be distributed through a door-to-door approach to household across the 275 wards of the 25 local councils in September.

According to Ocholi, the mass distribution campaign is to ensure that for every two persons in a household in Niger, one mosquito net is available for protection from mosquitoes that spread malaria, adding that the distribution will be done using Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT-4D) to capture household information.

The campaign manager further stated that household registration and distribution of the nets would run from September 1 to 12, 2022, pointing out that households must make someone available at home within the period to provide accurate information to the mobilisation and distribution teams, as well as collect the nets.
