Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), an initiative of the Nigeria Police Force, has pledged to partner with the Ondo State government in its fight against cultism to ensure a safer and more secure society.

Southwest Chairman of POCACOV, Ambassador Eniola Samuel Adams disclosed this in a statement yesterday, following recent violent cult clashes in Owo, a major town in Ondo State, resulting in loss of lives and widespread unrest.

He stressed that the partnership aimed to bolster efforts towards eradicating the scourge of cultism, which has plagued many communities, leaving in its trail, fear and destruction.

Adams stated that by joining forces, POCACOV and the Ondo State government seek to promote a culture of peace, security, and cooperation, ensuring that the state’s citizens can live, work, and thrive in a safer and more secure environment.

“I am delighted to pledge POCACOV’s support to the Ondo State government’s fight against cultism. This partnership underscores our commitment to fostering a safer, more secure environment for all citizens.

“We recognise that cultism poses a significant threat to peace and stability in our communities, and we are determined to work collaboratively with the state government to eradicate this menace.

“Our collective efforts will focus on promoting community-led initiatives, supporting law enforcement agencies, and providing education and economic opportunities to vulnerable groups,” Adams said.

He also announced POCACOV’s plan to collaborate with the state government, security agencies, and community stakeholders to educate youths on the dangers of cultism while promoting positive values and alternative lifestyles.

Adams, who also is a SPY Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) added that the collaboration would provide robust advocacy, preventive interventions, and long-term solutions to address the root causes of cultism and its devastating effects on communities. He called on all residents, especially parents, guardians, and community leaders, to join hands in steering young people away from cultism.
