Oyo APC chides Makinde over PDP rally in Ibadan
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State yesterday chided Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for allowing the South West Zonal rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to hold in Ibadan while some countries and states were closing down public institutions and banning public gatherings.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by the publicity secretary of APC in the state, AbdulAzeez Olatunde.
“Few indices of the enormity of the pandemic will suffice here, for the populace to appreciate the gravity of maladministration going on in Oyo under the government of Makinde. China has 81,048 reported cases with 3,204 deaths, France has 4,480 reported cases with 91 deaths, Italy has 21,157 reported cases with 1,441 deaths, United Kingdom has 1,140 reported cases with 21 deaths, and United States of America have 2,952 reported cases with 57 deaths.
“Likewise it was reported to have made great inroad to Africa with Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, South Africa and even Nigeria recording eight cases and most worrisome was a positive COVID-19 patient found to have being in Oyo for two weeks, only to be discovered in another state,” the APC stated.
It noted that while states like Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Jigawa, Kebbi and Kaduna were giving their schools 30 days break because of the pandemic, the PDP-led government in Oyo was calling people out in thousands for a rally.
“Where is the concern and care for the health of the innocent people of Oyo in their actions? We can only pray to Almighty God to come to the aid of Oyo people from this clueless PDP government,” Olatunde added.
