The gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Oyo State, Engineer Popoola Olukayode Joshua, popularly called POJ, as part of his empowerment and philanthropic activities, has showered members of his campaign council and aides that worked for him during last year’s governorship election with monetary and material gifts.

The elated workers, some of whom received huge sums of money, cars and acres of farmlands in Lagelu local government area of Oyo State, described the gesture as a soothing relief amid the economic hardship in the country and promised to utilise it judiciously while pledging their unalloyed support for the candidate.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Abiodun Sadiq Alabi, who served as his Chief of Staff, was full of joy and expressed his gratitude to his principal for the gift of a farmland he received, describing the gift as a huge elevation and solid economy empowerment for his family.

He said: “At the time when everybody is feeling the hardship of the present economic situation in the country, to find a leader with such dose of human kindness in him despite the election outcome to empower his workers and loyalists is rare and such persons should be encouraged to keep serving humanity. It also goes to show that they will do more for the masses when entrusted with leadership.”
