Oyo NNPP leader, Olopoeyan congratulates Makinde
The Southwest leader of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, has congratulated Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, on his victory in the governorship election held on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Makinde was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 563,756 votes, to defeat his closest rival and Sen. Teslim Folarin of All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 256,685 votes, as well as 14 other contestants in the race
In his statement, the NNPP leader said “The March 18, 2023, Oyo State governorship election is over, the winner has been declared by the umpire in the person of Makinde, candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP). I hereby congratulate the governor and the people of Oyo State.
“Politics is a game and election is a contest. We all played politics but Seyi Makinde won the contest. The result is the will of the people and we politicians need to respect it. I congratulate Gov. Makinde, I prayed he enjoyed his next four years peacefully.
“I commends INEC, our security agencies, and all political parties that contested the election for creating the environment, which enabled the election to be conducted peacefully.”
