Oyo State Police Command has arrested a student of  Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora (OYSCATECH), for alleged assault of a female student during a lift outside the campus.

The Guardian learnt that the victim was sexually assaulted by a ‘yahoo boy’ through the connivance of another student of the institution.

Confirming the incident, the management of the school said the victim and her mother visited the institution to formally lodge the complaint and immediately the matter was investigated.

THE  institution’s Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Olawore, said: “It was discovered that our student who was fingered in the matter did not perpetrate the act, but was considered an accomplice because he offered a lift to the victim since they reside in the same area. It was in the vehicle that she met the boy who later carried out the odious act.

“Since the matter had been reported to the appropriate security agency, both the perpetrator and accomplice have been apprehended by the Nigeria Police Force and they are being interrogated.

“We therefore, advise our students to be more vigilant and eschew all forms of indiscipline that may expose them to the inhuman and gender based violence ravaging the society.

“Despite the off-campus policy on student accommodation, the institution regularly parleys the host community towards achieving harmonious relationships with our students.

“The institution does not harbour indiscipline and has the right to punish any student that violates the institution’s rules and regulations.”
