The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Damian Opara, and another chieftain of the party have taken on Catholic priest, Fr. Ejike Mbaka, for prophesying against the party.

The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Damian Opara, and another chieftain of the party have taken on Catholic priest, Fr. Ejike Mbaka, for prophesying against the party.

Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), in his New Year prophecy, had said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2019 guber poll, Hope Uzodinma, would soon unseat PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha as Imo governor.

Reacting, the PDP spokesman accused the cleric of misleading the people and abusing the power of God.

Opara said, “People should ignore Mbaka and his prophecy. He is a known APC man and has never seen or said anything good about PDP. He has the history of interfering in Imo politics for reasons we all know of.

“Everybody knows that Ihedioha enjoys the mandate of the entire Imo people and God. His victory and subsequent court judgements are true reflections of the will of God, and not even Mbaka’s prophecy can change that.”

The other PDP chieftain, who spoke under anonymity, said Ihedioha would not be distracted by antics of enemies of the state from rebuilding the state.

He said, “Our God is not a cheater and he will never be. It sounds awkward listening to Mbaka’s proposed prophecy on Imo State election.

“I urge all Imolites to be courageous, pray and support this administration. No group or devilment individual will stop the Rebuild Imo agenda.”

APC’s Uzodinma came a distant fourth in the 2019 election with 96,458 votes behind Ihedioha who polled 273,404 to emerge winner, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (190,364), and Ifeanyi Ararume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (114,676).
