PDP leads in Ado LG, loses to APC in Tarka

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has scored 8614 votes to beat its rival All Progressives Congress (APC) which polled 5373 in the Presidential elections held Saturday in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the Local Government, Prof TM Echi made the disclosure while submitting the result to the Chief Returning Officer, Prof Sabastine Maimaku on Sunday in Makurdi.

He said there were 73129 registered voters with a total of 16747 accredited in the 10 Registration Areas of Ado.

But APC polled 12197  to defeat PDP which had  4875  in Tarka Local Government, a stronghold of Senator George Akume, former governor of the state. Senator Akume is a strong contender for the Zone B Senatorial District elections.

INEC Returning Officer for the Local government, Dr Simon Ejembi said there were 50180 number of voters with 18749 accredited in the 10 Registration Areas of the local government.

Results from the remaining 21 local governments were still being awaited at press time. 6:25pm.
