Plateau earmarks N1b for poll in four councils
The Plateau State Government has finally decided to conduct elections in four council areas of the state, but did not give specifications on the mode of the polls.
Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Sylvester Wallangko, disclosed this during a breakdown of the 2020 budget of N177.3b as approved by the state House of Assembly and signed into law by Governor Simon Lalong. Reacting to a question on acquisition of election materials in the budget breakdown, Wallangko confirmed that the materials were meant for the four council areas where elections were suspended for security reasons.The councils for which government plans to conduct elections soon are, Jos North, Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi.
