The Plateau State Police Command has invaded cultists’ hideout in a bid to rid Jos, the state capital of cultism and other forms of criminality and killed one of the cultists in an encounter.

A source told newsmen that the Police came into confrontation with the cultists parading the streets of Apata and Anguwan Suya in Jos North Local Council of the state at about 8:00p.m.The source said that two of the cultists escaped.

Contacted yesterday, spokesperson for the Command, Alfred Alabo, said he was yet to be briefed by the relevant police authorities where the incident took place, adding that he would brief this reporter after he had been briefed.

MEANWHILE, Plateau State government and security personnel in the state have been urged to come together to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in the state.

This was raised at the yearly conference of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) held at Joshua Dariye Hall, Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, Jos Campus.

The conference was organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Ninret Integrated Services to chart a way for the internally displaced persons in the state.

Plateau has witnessed a series of attacks by suspected herdsmen where some people were displaced as their homes were vandalised.

Governor of the conference, Vis Loman, said that participants hoped to benefit from public-spirited individuals so as to rebuild their homes.

The government was not even aware that displaced persons still exist as they have been evacuated by their relatives to their homes,  while still waiting for manna to fall from heaven when they will rebuild their vandalised buildings.
