The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Plateau State, Dr. Oliver Agundu, has resumed duty in Jos.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Plateau State, Dr. Oliver Agundu, has resumed duty in Jos.

On hand to receive him at the state’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office are the management and staff, led by the Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Caroline Okpe.

Agundu charged members of staff to discharge their duties with utmost integrity and in compliance with the Constitution, Electoral Act and other relevant laws guiding their conduct.

He sought their co-operation to maintain the good image of the commission by avoiding anything that would put them on the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

The INEC staff pledged their unalloyed cooperation towards the realisation of the REC’s mandate in the state.

According to him, Nigerians, more politically aware and ready to participate in the electoral process to define their future, are proud of INEC; hence the need for the staff to work hard to give the people a credible election for posterity’s sake.

The REC received handover notes and briefs from the administrative secretary, who, before his arrival, had been the acting REC, as well as the various Heads of Department (HODs).

Agundu, who hails from Benue State, was alongside 18 others, sworn in on November 3, 2022, and posted to Plateau. He succeeded Halilu Pai.
