Police arraign suspect who distributed petrol as souvenir

For distributing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as souvenir at a party, a Lagos socialite, Ms. Ogbulu Chidinma Pearl has been arraigned before Chief Magistrate Kehinde Ogundare of a Special Offences (Mobile) Court sitting at Oshodi.
 
Ogbulu was arraigned on a four-count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace, endangering life by distributing combustible matter in a public gathering, intent to do harm to another and unlawfully carrying on the business of storage and containerising petroleum products without permit. 
  
She was alleged to have distributed Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as a souvenir during her installation party on March 5, 2022 at Havilah Event Centre, Lagos.

   
The offences violate Section 251(1), 168 (1), 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of Lagos State 2017.
  
Following her plea of not guilty to the charge, the court granted her bail in the sum of N2 million and two sureties in like sum.
    
The court further ordered that the address of the sureties be verified and they must have three years tax clearance. The court subsequently adjourned till March 24, 2022 for trial.

MEANWHILE, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting life and property and further warned citizens against acts capable of endangering human lives.
