Police confirms killing of Kaduna doctor’s wife by abductors


Demand 20m For Children’s Release
The Wife of a Kaduna based medical doctor, Philip Ataga, abducted last week by gunmen, has been reported killed by her captors, Police confirmed, yesterday. 

When contacted, PPRO, Yakubu Sabo who the confirmed the killing of Mrs. Ataga also described the development as unfortunate.

Mrs Ataga spent seven days in captivity before she was killed. The bandits demanded N150m for her release and her two children, abducted on January 24, when gunmen broke into their house after invading Juji community, near Sabon Tasha, Chikun Local Government  

A member of the vigilante group in the community was killed during the incident. 

A source close to the family revealed “the bandits killed Mrs. Ataga, called her husband and directed him to pick the corpse at a particular location.

“Her corpse was picked and deposited at the mortuary at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Kaduna. 

According to the source: “having killed the wife, the bandits are now asking for N20 million ransom for the release of the children.”

Kaduna Police Command PPRO however assured that efforts are on to secure the children’s release.
