…As CP orders verification of residents’ concerCross River State Police Command says no formal complaint of recurring burglary has been filed at State Housing Police Division, which covers Ekorinim 1 Housing Estate, Calabar, despite alarm raised by ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
In press statement Monday by Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the Command said preliminary checks with DPO in charge of the area showed no recent reports.
“Preliminary checks with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) State Housing Division, responsible for the area indicate that no recent formal reports of such incidents have been received at the station,” ASP Akata stated.
“DPO reports no recent formal complaints as Command moves to verify residents’ concerns,” police added.
However, Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has directed heightened intelligence gathering, increased security monitoring and comprehensive assessment of the security situation in Ekorinim 1 to verify claims.
The police said it does not discount concerns raised by residents and recognizes importance of promptly addressing all security-related complaints.
CP Ordue reiterated that safety of every resident remains priority, irrespective of status or proximity to public office holder, urging victims to report to nearest station or call Control Room on 0704 177 7060 or 0705 335 5415.
“The Command remains committed to intelligence-led policing, effective community engagement and proactive security measures across Cross River State,” statement said.
