Akwa Ibom State police command has paraded one Kingsley Udoyen, who had allegedly been parading himself as an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

The Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, disclosed this to journalists at the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo, the state capital.

According to the CP, the suspect had been using the rank to threaten and defraud unsuspecting members of the public before he was apprehended by men of his command in Abak Council on January 2.

During a search of the suspect’s apartment, one English pistol without ammunition, N125,000 cash, portraits of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and other incriminating items were discovered, Kimo added.

The suspect, who claimed to be a car dealer, confessed that he ventured into the act when he lost his job.

The CP used the occasion to warn politicians in the state to eschew politics of bitterness, as “the country is in critical time of the general elections.”

He assured that the police would remain apolitical, neutral and fair to all political parties before, during and after the elections.
