
In a significant show of force, the Lagos State Police Command has paraded over 200 suspects following a week-long operation.The suspects, arrested for various crimes including kidnapping, cultism, drug dealing, and armed robbery, were apprehended across the state.
A variety of evidence was seized, including 10 firearms, 41 rounds of ammunition, 12 phones, a vehicle, $402, 39 bags of cement, a laptop, a ton of iron rods, suspected drugs, axes, hammers, daggers, knives, and charms.
Among those paraded were three men who kidnapped a 21-year-old woman and demanded a ransom of N10 million.
Police operatives successfully rescued the victim unharmed and arrested 35-year-old Hassan Samson, 26-year-old Nnemka Chibike, and 32-year-old Segun Akinyola in their hideout around Badagry.
Additionally, on September 22, police officers on patrol rescued a woman in distress and arrested 50-year-old Chibuike Ochiobi and 48-year-old Charles Aha. A Toyota Camry was recovered from them.
Other arrests included Sunday Nwabufor and Obinna Nweke, who were caught with 120 wraps of cocaine; Yemi Fadairo, who confessed to stealing a Toyota Rav4 and receiving N800,000 as his share; and Olayemi Abiodun and Shuaib Hassan, arrested with suspected drugs.
The police also paraded a group of eight individuals arrested for cultism and drug possession, as well as 42-year-old Atemelu Paul, apprehended for robbery. A notorious cultist, 18-year-old Fuad Akanni, was also among those paraded.
State Commissioner of Police Olanrewaju Ishola reassured the public that his leadership would minimise crime. He stated that all suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The CP promised to optimise resource use and ensure enhanced collaboration with other security agencies and the public to maintain peace and order in Lagos State.
