Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, has presented N26.1m cheques to seven families of officers, who died in active service in the state.

Presenting the cheques to the next of kin of the seven deceased officers, Ali said the money was part of the Inspector General of Police’s, Alkali Baba Usman, insurance welfare scheme.

The CP noted that the cheques “will in no small way act as a boost to the families and let them know that though their loved ones are no more, the force did not forget their sacrifices.”

The beneficiaries thanked the IGP for his magnanimity, disclosing that the money will be used judiciously.

The Police boss also decorated the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) ‘A’ Division Asaba, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Temitope Fasugba; the officer in the charge Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, CSP Emmanuel Yakubu; the DPO Abbi Division, CSP Mu’azu Mohammed, who were newly promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police.

Others decorated were the Command’s Finance Officer (CFO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Ogungbagbe Opeyemi; the Commander Crack Squad, SP John Agaga and four others promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendents of Police.

The CP admonished all the newly decorated officers to remember that the reward for hard work is more work, advising them to put in more effort as Police officers.

Fasugba, on behalf of the beneficiaries, assured the CP that they would not disappoint the IGP and the Command as they move to the next level in their policing career.
